The vibration finish is produced by overlapping abrasive movement that creates a fine, non-uniform pattern without a strong single grain direction. A black titanium-color PVD coating is then specified to achieve the dark metallic appearance. Is black titanium the stainless steel grade?
No. Black titanium describes the decorative PVD color. The base stainless steel grade can be SS201, SS304 or SS316.
Is the vibration finish directional?
It has a fine, overlapping random pattern with much less obvious direction than a conventional hairline finish. A sample should still be approved for visual expectations.
Can the sheet be bent or laser cut?
Yes, subject to thickness, design and coating-protection requirements. Fabrication planning should be completed before production because incorrect tooling or welding can damage the finished surface.
